We only have one Earth to live on, and it is important we treat the planet well.  When you are shipping your goods across the globe and you need your shipment to be easy to transport, it is important you use the right methods to ensure efficiency and safety for your goods and for the personnel handling them.

But before and after your goods have shipped, it is important to keep in mind the environmental impact your shipping supplies and pallets have on the environment.  Fortunately, wood pallets are the best option for the health and wellbeing of your products and the planet.

The Original Renewable Resource

Wood, as it is used in shipping pallets, is the only material that is completely renewable, reusable, and recyclable.  Conversely, the most commonly used alternative materials for shipping pallets are made of plastics derived from gasses and oils.  These gasses and oils are from fossil fuels which, as is widely known, are a rapidly decreasing and limited global resource.  Human beings have become adept at replanting forests and maintaining lumber resources, so having pallets made of wood will not put undue pressure on the environment

Wood’s unique durability

Today, the demand for wood over other materials in the pallet market is very high.  According to the most recent pallet user survey conducted by Modern Materials Handling, wood continues to lead with 95 percent of those surveyed reporting that they use wooden pallets at their facility.  Since the previous survey was conducted, 32 percent of those surveyed say they have gotten more used pallets and they plan to acquire even more for their shipping operation.

Nature’s Packaging

According to the European Federation of Wooden Pallet and Packaging Manufacturers (FEFPEB) there are roughly three billion wood pallets in circulation within the European Union, 1 billion units of lightweight packaging and several billion units of industrial wood packaging every year – in addition to many more being internationally used. Along with boxes, crates and other packaging, these are pallets are crucial to the smooth distribution of products around the world. It is truly packaging from nature.

There’s no need to fret over your wood pallet usage for your shipping needs.  As long as you are willing to reuse and recycle, you can continue to conduct your business without harming the environment.
